Verified requirements and safe defaults

SSC signature — 10–20 KBVerified preset

SSC specifies JPG/JPEG, 10–20 KB and about 6 cm × 2 cm. Pixel values here are an editable working canvas, not an official pixel mandate. Current SSC notices capture the photograph live.

UPSC application guide

Use the current UPSC examination rule, not a universal preset

UPSC document instructions can change by examination and application system. This page deliberately keeps the working values editable so the official notice stays in control.

  1. Read the document-upload section

Locate the current examination notice or portal instruction and note format, dimensions and minimum or maximum KB.

  2. Enter the printed limits

Choose the UPSC guidance option, then replace its editable fields with the exact values shown for your application.

  3. Frame without distortion

Use crop, zoom and position controls to fit the required ratio. Do not stretch the face or signature to fill the canvas.

  4. Download and compare

Open the JPG and compare its visible result and reported properties with the portal instruction before uploading.

What to check

Important details before you upload

Use these checks together with the current official instruction. They explain what the controls can verify and what still needs human review.

Why this page has no fixed universal UPSC size

A size copied from an older Civil Services, CDS, NDA or another UPSC workflow can become misleading when the portal changes. A truthful tool should not present one historic number as a permanent UPSC rule. The default therefore opens editable guidance and links to the official UPSC Online portal rather than silently applying an unsupported preset.

How to copy a UPSC requirement correctly

Separate pixel dimensions from file size. Width and height control the canvas, while KB controls the encoded file. Also note whether the instruction says a range, a maximum only, JPG or JPEG, or another format. Enter all printed values together; changing only the KB target can still leave the wrong dimensions.

Photo and signature quality still matter

For a photograph, keep the full face sharp, evenly lit and naturally proportioned. For a signature, use dark ink on clean white paper with the complete stroke visible. The tool can resize and re-encode the file, but it cannot repair severe blur, missing ink, an obstructed face or a document that the portal does not request.

Clear answers

Questions about this requirement

Which UPSC photo size should I select?

Use the size printed in the active examination notice or upload screen. Enter it in the editable fields rather than relying on an old tutorial.

Can I use this page for a UPSC signature?

Yes, when the current application asks for a signature file. Use Fit with white background if Crop to fill removes part of the ink.

Can I resize to a maximum KB without a minimum?

Yes. Enter the printed maximum and leave the minimum empty only when the official wording genuinely gives no minimum.

Are my UPSC images uploaded to GetJobAlert?

No. The browser processes the source and download on your device; image bytes and filenames are not sent to the site.
