For Central/State Government, retired PSU employees and retired IITians: last pay drawn minus pension plus entitled allowance. For Non-Government/Private/Consultancy Firms/Multinational Organisations: INR 70,000–90,000 per month. Retired IDA-scale employees re-engaged as Specialist are paid monthly remuneration at 50% of basic pay drawn where no pension is drawn, or last basic pay minus pension where pension is drawn. Transport allowance is up to Rs. 3600 per month.

Preference will be given to practicing lawyers having experience of handling legal matters with working knowledge of computer.
- Experience relaxation

For a deserving candidate otherwise well qualified to handle legal matters, relaxation in experience may be considered subject to approval of the Competent Authority in IWAI.
- Eligibility audience and re-employment status

Individuals from Non-Government/Private/Multinational Consultancy Firms or retired employees from Government, autonomous bodies or PSUs with the prescribed qualifications and experience are eligible; engagement is not considered re-employment.
- Exclusive engagement

The engagement is on a fulltime basis unless specified, and another assignment cannot be taken during the IWAI engagement.
- Working hours

Working hours are 09:30 AM to 06:00 PM at IWAI Head Office Noida, five days a week on working days, including a half-hour lunch break.
- Attendance

A full-time Specialist must attend office on all working days and on holidays if required due to work exigencies.
- Leave
-
Eligible for 18 days' leave in a calendar year on a pro-rata basis; absence beyond this is unpaid, unavailed leave cannot be carried forward, and leave beyond five days requires Wing Head approval.
- Allowances

The Specialist (Legal) is not entitled to Dearness Allowance, residential accommodation, personal staff, CGHS, medical reimbursement or similar allowances.
- TA/DA and official travel

No TA/DA is admissible for joining or completing the assignment, and foreign travel at Government expense is not allowed. Official travel may be required; tours outside IWAI Head Office, Noida attract TA/DA at rates admissible to an IWAI Level-10 official.
- Termination

IWAI may terminate the contract for inability to address assigned work, unsatisfactory quality, failure to achieve milestones, the requirement of the Specialist according to work volume, or lack of honesty and integrity. The department may terminate with 30 days' notice in normal cases; conflict of interest or lack of integrity may result in immediate termination and legal action.

The Specialist must not disclose specified IWAI information to a third party without Competent Authority approval; disclosure is treated as a violation of the Official Secrets Act, 1923 and grounds for termination and other necessary action.
